As a successor to the Vauxhall Light Six, the 12-4 shared several features with the Vauxhall 10-4. The vehicle, which was introduced in 1940, was produced in two variations: the I and, in 1946, the HIX, both of which featured the well-known Vauxhall inline four-cylinder engine. In the same year, Vauxhall stopped production of the 12-4 in favor of the more modern Vauxhall Wyvern.
