The Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 is the primary variant of the 40 Series, produced for model years 1961 to 1984 in Japan, and until 1985 in Venezuela. The FJ40 is the model that made Toyota a household name. Today, it’s a classic 4x4 that’s a favorite to off-road enthusiasts and collectors alike, competing head to head on collectability against the Land Rover Series models, the Defender 90, Ford Bronco, and the International Scout. Featuring the gas powered F engine until 1974, and the 2F engine until 1985, the model received only minor body and mechanical modifications along its years of production. Notably, US-spec models, which were sold until 1983, received some additional features and characteristics that make them more appealing than vehicles destined for other markets.
From 1967 to 1971, Mercedes produced around 23,885 of the W113, 280SL “Pagoda,” a model nicknamed for its slightly concave removable top. It boasted the last update to the SOHC M180 inline-six by Mercedes-Benz and buyers could choose an optional limited-slip differential. Heavier than its predecessors, the 230SL and 250SL, the 280 SL is popular amongst car enthusiasts and has become known as one of the most reliable and sturdy Mercedes-Benz models ever produced.
The Camaro Z/28 was a high performance version of the Chevrolet Camaro. The Z/28 performance package debuted on the First Generation Camaro. This package was created to be able to sell a nearly race ready version of the Camaro, with an eye on Trans Am racing. The first generation of Z/28 saw the package offer a 302 cubic inch (4.9L) V8 engine as Trans Am regulations limited engine displacement to 305 cubic inches (5.0L). This engine was notably underrated. While it was listed at 290hp, the unit produced closer to 360hp when fitted with a single four barrel carburetor, and 400hp when fitted with the optional dual four barrel carburetor. The Z/28 option was only offered on the coupe body style, and required buyers to add disc brakes and a close-ratio 4-speed manual transmission. It was possible to combine the 'RS' appearance package with the Z/28. Camaros fitted with the Z/28 package also received mechanical upgrades in order to improve handling and performance, and wore a distinctive twin racing stripe decal. Over 28,000 examples of the first generation Z/28 Camaro were built before production ended in 1969.
The Porsche 911 Turbo 3.3 Coupe is the result of the first and most significant change to the 930. Starting in model year 1978, Porsche enlarged the engine bore by 2 mm (0.08 in) for a total displacement of 3,299 cc (3.3 L; 201.3 cu in) and added an air-to-air intercooler. Total production of the Turbo 3.3 Coupe, for all markets, was 15,836. Although available in a coupe body style, the 930 Slantnose version is treated separately. A cabriolet and Targa variant were introduced in 1987. The 930 Turbo Coupe was replaced by the 964 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.3 for model year 1990.
The 325i Convertible was an open top variant of the E30 BMW 325i. Introduced for the 1986 model year, the 325i Convertible became one of the standards for small convertible luxury cars. Fitted with BMW's M20B25 2.5L straight six engine and a retractable roof, the 325i Convertible was one of the best selling E30 3 Series variants.
The Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe (993 generation) was introduced in late 1994 (1995 in North America) along with the Cabriolet version. It was fitted with a development of the M64 3.6-liter flat six that had been found in the prior 964 generation, in both 6-speed manual and Triptronic (automatic) transmissions. With a redesigned exhaust system and new hydraulic lifters, the engine produced 272 horsepower. For the 1996 model year, a variable intake runner system (called VarioRam) was added to the standard Carrera, bumping horsepower to 285. Approximately 23,000 coupes were built. Produced until 1997, the coupe was replaced by the Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe (996 generation) for model year 1998.
The First Generation of Ford GT was introduced for the 2005 model year. Channeling the legendary Ford GT40, the first generation GT was created to give Ford a halo car that paid homage to the brand's history while showcasing its performance capabilities. These supercars were offered in a coupe body style powered by a 5.4L V8 engine. This mid-mounted, supercharged engine generated 550hp which was sent to the rear wheels via a 6 speed manual transmission. Although Ford never directly built a roadster version, they collaborated with Gennadi Design Group to create the GTX1. The GTX1 was a more powerful, open top version of the GT available as an aftermarket option, but with the direct blessing of Ford, as well as a factory warranty. Another special edtion, known as the Heritage Edition, was also produced. The Heritage Edition featured a special Gulf retro livery, but was mechanically identical to the Base Model GT. Production of the first generation GT lasted until 2006, with a total of 4,038 examples built. For the 2017 model year, Ford would introduced the Second Generation Ford GT.
