This is my 2003 BMW 530i and it was the last production year of the E39 product platform. The E39 platform ran from 1995 to 2003 and the 2003 model year is widely considered one of the best engineered automobiles BMW ever made.
I am the car’s second owner and I’ve owned it for the past 8 years. The car has a true odometer reading of 127,795 miles at the moment. I have all of the maintenance records going back to the purchase as well as the original bill of sale. The car has never been in an accident, has always been garaged, and the exterior and interior have always been well maintained as the video and the photos make evident.
This is a Colorado car so it has no rust. We do not salt our roads when it snows - we sand our roads for traction and so there are a few, small stone nicks on the front of the car. The car has been driven year round, but it has not been driven in the mountains during the winter months.
The drive train is the M54 3.0L inline six cylinder engine with double overhead cams mated to a five-speed Steptronic automatic transmission. The engine was rated at 228 horsepower. The drive train remains very strong. The car passed a recent emissions test with flying colors. Fuel economy on a tank of mixed highway and local driving is in the 23-25 mpg range. All highway driving pushes into the high 20s mpg even at elevation.
As you can see, the interior is in excellent shape. There are no cracks or tears in the leather. The backseat passenger area is immaculate. Door panels are all in excellent shape and all controls are functional
The car has had a number of age-related maintenance items in the last 20,000 miles.
The following items have all been replaced:
The radiator, thermostat assembly and hoses
The oil pan gasket and oil sender unit
The valve cover gasket
The thermostat housing
Alternator, voltage regulator, and battery
The power steering reservoir and hoses
The power steering rack boot (done with an associated wheel alignment)
Front and rear rotors and brake pads
Camshaft position sensor
The transmission fluid was flushed
The car has a new windshield as of November, 2023
