The BMW 518i was a variant of the E28 5 Series that debuted for the 1982 model year. The 518i was only offered in a sedan body style and was powered by BMW's M10B18 engine, which was a 1.8L inline four. This engine had an output of 104hp which drove the rear wheels through manual or automatic transmission options. Production of the E28 518i ended in 1987, but the model series would continue life in the next generation BMW E34 5 Series.
