Details
This 1981 Chevrolet Corvette shows just 30,150 miles on the odometer and is powered by a 5.7L 350ci V8 engine that sends its power to the rear wheels through a positraction differential via a three-speed automatic transmission. The exterior is painted Dark Blue Metallic and matched by Dark Blue leather upholstery. This unmodified example features 15-inch alloy wheels, T-top removable panels, power windows, cruise control, and power disc brakes. This Corvette is presented with a clean Carfax and has spent most of its life in New Jersey.
The third-party photos and inspection document a well-preserved 42-year-old car. The inspection does note some discoloration in the bumpers, minor scratches, and a tear in the drivers seat. Blemishes found are consistent with the mileage of the car, and it is in considerably good condition when taking into account its age. Mechanically the car operates as designed, per the inspector. Overall the car appears to be unmodified and in the spirit of the way it likely left the factory. Included in the sale of the vehicle is one set of keys.
This Corvette is being sold through a CLASSIC.COM Pro and is located in Park Ridge, New Jersey.
About the model
The third generation Chevrolet Corvette C3, was a sports car that was produced from 1967 to 1982 by Chevrolet for the 1968 through 1982 model years. Engines and chassis components were mostly carried over from the previous generation, but the body and interior were new. C3 Corvettes were available in convertible and T-Top body styles only, with the T-Top having two removable rooftop panels (note that many T-Tops are described as 'coupe'). The C3 set new sales records, with 53,807 produced for the 1979 model year. The C3 marks the second time the Corvette would carry the Stingray name, though only for the 1969 - 1976 model years. This time it was a single word as opposed to Sting Ray as used for the 1963 - 1967 C2 Corvette. The name would then be retired until 2014, when it was re-introduced with the release of the C7. Production of the third-generation Corvette lasted until 1982, when the Fourth Generation Chevrolet Corvette (C4) debuted.
