Chevrolet Corvette - C1 (1958 to 1960)

The third evolution of the C1 Chevrolet Corvette was introduced for the 1958 model year. This latest iteration of the Corvette saw the debut of a longer, sleeker, four-headlight design which helped cement the car as an American icon. Alongside the exterior update, the interior of the C1 now featured a more driver-focused cabin. The 283 cubic inch V8 engine was the only powerplant available, but it was offered in both carbureted and fuel-injected configurations. For carbureted versions, power ranged from 230hp to 270hp, while fuel-injected versions (often referred to as "fuelies") could range from 250hp to 315hp. The standard transmission option was the 3 speed manual, while a 4 speed manual and 2 speed automatic were optional. As the most produced iteration of the C1 Corvette, a total of 29,099 examples of the 1958-1960 Corvette were built, before being replaced by the 1961-962 C1 Chevrolet Corvette.
