Mercedes-Benz introduced their W124 based convertibles for the 1993 model year. These convertibles are known as the A124 range of cars. The A124 was available with either an inline four or an inline six engine. Variants included the 220CE, E200, E220, 300CE, 300CE-24, 320CE,  E320, and the rare E36 AMG. At the end of production of the A124 cabriolet in 1997, Mercedes changed the name of E-Class based convertibles to the Mercedes-Benz CLK.
