The Corvette 2008 Indy 500 Pace Car was created in order to commemorate the selection of the C6 Corvette as the Official Pace Car of the 92nd Indianapolis 500. These limited edition cars were available in a semi-convertible (referred to as coupe) or convertible body style. These were all painted black and featured a black and gray interior as well as headrests embroidered with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway logo. Buyers had a choice of a 6 speed manual or 6 speed paddle-shift automatic to pair with the 6.0L LS2 V8 engine. As famed F1 champion Emerson Fittipaldi was driving the actual safety car in the race, he signed each of the 500 examples of the 2008 Chevrolet Corvette Indy Pace Car that were built.
