BMW 320i - E21 (1976 to 1983)

The 320i was a variant of the E21 BMW 3 Series that was introduced for the 1976 model year. This series of sedans were powered by BMW's M64 engine, sending power to the rear wheels via a manual transmission. The 320i's 2.0L inline four engine featured fuel-injection, and generated 123hp. US-market examples were initially fitted with a less powerful version of the M64 engine which generated 109hp, but in 1980, the engine was downsized to 1.8L, with a power rating of 99hp. Although BMW produced the 320i as a sedan, coachbuilder Baur offered a semi-convertible conversion that featured a factory warranty. Production of the E21 320i lasted until 1983, although the model series would continue life in the next generation of 3 Series as the E30 BMW 320i.
