Launched in 1977, the BMW E23 was the first generation of the 7 Series luxury saloon. The E23 was a sophisticated vehicle, being the first BMW to feature a digital onboard computer, service interval indicator, and a check control panel. The most powerful variant—except for the South Africa-only M88-powered 745i—was the European 745i, which was introduced in 1979 and featured a turbocharged 3.2-litre straight-six engine. By 1983, displacement had increased to 3.4-litres, with a peak output of 252 PS.
This 745i left the BMW factory 1985, finished in Bahama Beige over a Buffalo Hide interior in pristine original condition and optioned with the Executive Package. A late-model 745i, this example was powered by the 3.4-litre turbocharged straight-six mated to a four-speed ZF automatic gearbox.
Today, it retains its factory-correct colour scheme and has covered just 106,000 miles at the time of listing. As a “top tier” model from the E23 range, this BMW is ideal for collectors seeking a rare and desirable first-generation 7 Series
This 1985 BMW 745i was imported to the US when new and is powered by a turbocharged 3.4-liter M106 inline-six linked with a four-speed automatic transmission.
