About this 1957 Porsche 356 Speedster

VIN: 83248

Mohr Imports is proud to present this exceptional numbers-matching 1957 Porsche 356A Speedster, finished in its original factory-correct Ruby Red (5702) over a Black interior (B).

According to the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, this Speedster was completed on April 15, 1957, and retains its matching engine and transmission, deck lids and doors

— a testament to its originality and authenticity —

One of only 590 356A T1 Speedsters produced in 1957, this Speedster underwent a high-quality restoration by Air-Cooled Porsche enthusiast, Don Lindall. Don founded a service and restoration shop, German Autoworks in 1971, which was based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Over the years at German Autoworks, Don owned may Porsches, but this '57 356A Speedster was considered his prized car after discovering this car with a “For Sale” sign on it, parked on the side of the road in 1984. He immediately stopped, took down the number, bought the car and lovingly owned it for 20 years.

Prior to its acquisition by European Collectibles of Costa Mesa, CA in the summer of 2004, Don commissioned a comprehensive restoration included a complete disassembly of the car, body preparation down to bare metal, and a show-quality paint finish in its original Ruby Red. The undercarriage, trunk, and engine bay were meticulously detailed to factory specifications.

During reassembly, all new rubber components were installed along with a new windshield, restored instruments, reupholstered seats, and a fresh soft top. The brightwork was re-plated, polished, and reinstalled, ensuring the car’s presentation met concours standards. The engine, transmission, steering, suspension, and brakes were all professionally rebuilt and fully detailed.

European Collectibles sold this Speedster to a local client who proudly showcased it at the Dana Point Concours the following month. Since then, the car has been consistently maintained, with European Collectibles performing minor enhancements and preservation work to ensure it remains in top condition.

Powered by its original 1600 Normal (60 horsepower) engine paired with a 644 manual 4-speed transmission and four-wheel drum brakes, this Speedster delivers an engaging and authentic driving experience.

Other appointments include headlight stone guards, gold badges, a Reutter badge attached to the right-front fender, a low windshield, body-color bumpers with chrome overriders, a single side-view mirror, teardrop taillights, dual exhaust outlets, and a single engine lid vent.

Presented in remarkable condition, this Ruby Red Speedster is offered with tools, a jack, owner’s manual, spare tire, side curtains, boot cover, and its Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, framed and showing its matching numbers engine and gearbox stampings.

Very rare in today's standards as one of only 590 356A T1 Speedsters produced in 1957.

A beautifully restored and meticulously maintained example, this 1957 Porsche 356A Speedster is a standout opportunity for collectors and driving enthusiasts alike.

Ready for spirited drives with the Porsche Club of America, concours-level exhibitions, or prestigious gatherings like Luftgekühlt and Air|Water. It would make an outstanding entry at the Porsche Werks Reunion during Monterey Car Week.
