The Porsche 356 Pre A Cabriolet was introduced in 1950 and was available through mid-1955. Engine selection mirrored what was available on the Pre-A Coupe: beginning in 1950 it was offered with a 1100 cc flat four that produced 40 hp. In 1951 both a 1300 cc and 1500 cc were added, producing 44 and 60 hp respectively. In 1952 a 1500S that produced 70 hp was added mid year and the base 1500 cc motor had horsepower reduced to 55. The engine choices increased again in 1953 with the addition of a 1300S producing 60 hp. In 1954 engines continued from 1100 to a 1500S, 40 hp to 70 hp. Built in limited numbers, bodies were produced by coachbuilders Reutter and Glaser, though Reutter produced the majority. Total Pre A Cabriolet production was 1,275, of which 218 were Glaser and 1,057 were Reutter. It was replaced by the Porsche 356 A Cabriolet in late 1955.
