About this 1952 Ford F-1

VIN: F1R2MP10574

We know this truck was built in the Memphis, TN plant and didn't travel too far as it spent most of it's life in Mississippi.

In 1969 it is believed that Gerald bought this truck for $11 from Stuart Auto Sales. Gerald must have had dreams of being a hot rodder, as he added a bunch of misc chrome pieces to the truck, extra V8 emblems and he eventually swapped in a rebuilt, .060 bored, Mercury 255 flathead V8, with Edelbrock aluminum heads (possibly high compression), an F2 non-synchro 4 speed and dual exhaust.

The truck was originally Vermillion-red and Gerald repainted her in the seen non stock blue.

He had the truck up until 2007 when his wife sold the truck to Paul in MA. Paul enjoyed the truck for a little over ten years, and in 2019, she went on to her new owner here in CT, however, the owner being from MA originally, the truck is still titled and registered in MA.

In the time the current owner has had the truck, he's converted the truck BACK to 6V and added extra ground straps (she cranks as easily as a 12V system), new king pins, tie rod ends, steering box and shaft, drag link, steering arm, wiring harness, went back to a rebuilt 2 bbl carb and manifold, installed a correct oil bath air cleaner, installed new brake lines, master cylinder, wheel cylinders, shoes and had the drums turned. He added two new mufflers an electric fuel pump for start ups and redid the ignition.

He's also added a few thousand miles to her, using her as a regular driver and actually s a truck, so he's added a couple scratches and chips to her as well. In searching for the "perfect 1952 Ford F1 from his youth", he's decided to move this one on to a new conservator.

Turn the key, flip the toggle switch for the electric fuel pump, pull the choke out a hair, hit the start button and she fires up immediately. The flathead V8 settling into it's signature rumble in just a couple minutes. The truck idles smoothly and runs strong. The body is super solid and rot free, yes, there is surface rust underneath, but nothing to be concerned about. The interior is as basic as a 50's era truck would be expected to be. The heater works, the lights work (rear blinkers operate, the fronts need some wiring and bulbs) as do the wipers and horn. The radio does not. The door panels are solid, the passenger side showing some wear, the maroon and grey vinyl bench seat is also solid and shows no damage. The odometer reads 24,675 - True Mileage is Unknown.

Shift her into gear and the truck really moves, although, shifting through the non-synchro 4 speed means a lot of double clutching. The truck cruises easily at 55 mph and feels straight and solid, no wiggles in the steering. The brakes take some pressure .. they're 4 wheel non power drums, but the stop the truck as they should. The tires are from 2017, the tread is good and will easily keep the truck on the road for local jaunts. If the plan is to take the truck far distances on the highway, I'd replace the tires.

Overall, I'd call this truck a solid #3. Not going to take any trophies but as a cool survivor, with a cool back story, she still garner a crowd at the local cruise night.
