The Volkswagen Golf GTI VR6 was a special variant of the Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk3 that was introduced in 1992. The Golf GTI VR6 was powered by a  2.8L naturally aspirated 12 valve V6 engine, generating 172hp and 173lb-ft of torque. This sporty variant was also available with a 2.9L naturally aspirated 12 valve V6 engine.  Power was sent to the front wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission. The GTI VR6 Mk3 was superseeded by the Golf GTI VR6 Mk4 in 1999.
