The Mitsubishi Eclipse was a series of compact sports cars introduced for the 1990 model year. The Eclipse was created during Mitsubishi's era of close collaboration with Chrysler, which sold captive import versions of the Eclipse as the Plymouth Laser or Dodge Talon. The Eclipse was offered as a convertible or liftback coupe during its production, and was fitted with a range of naturally aspirated or turbocharged inline four engines, as well as V6 options. The Mitsubishi Eclipse was built in four generations: 1st Gen (1990-1994), 2nd Gen (1995-1999), 3rd Gen (2000-2005), and 4th Gen (2006-2012).
