The Mercedes-Benz 300TE 4MATIC (sold as the E300 4MATIC from the 1994 model year) was an all wheel drive variant of the S124 Wagon that debuted for the 1986 model year. The 300TE 4MATIC was based on the 300TE and was powered by Mercedes' M103.985 engine, which was a 3.0L inline six that generated 180hp and 188 lb ft of torque. This power was sent through manual and automatic transmission options to all four wheels via Mercedes' 4MATIC all wheel drive system. From the 1991 model year onwards, only a 4 speed automatic was offered. In 1993, Mercedes changed their naming system, causing the 300TE 4MATIC to become the E300 4MATIC. Production of the S124 Mercedes-Benz 300TE 4MATIC ended in 1995 with 12,094 examples built.
