The Mercedes-Benz 300E 4MATIC (sold as the E300 4MATIC from the 1994 model year) was an all wheel drive variant of the W124 Sedan that debuted for the 1987 model year. The 300E 4MATIC was based on the 300E and was powered by Mercedes' M103.985 engine, which was a 3.0L inline six that generated 180hp and 188 lb ft of torque. This power was sent through a 5 speed manual or 4 speed automatic transmission to all four wheels via Mercedes' 4MATIC all wheel drive system. From the 1991 model year onwards, only the 4 speed automatic was offered. In 1993, Mercedes changed their naming system, causing the 300E 4MATIC to become the E300 4MATIC. Production of the W124 300E 4MATIC ended in 1995 with 14,202 examples built.
