The Mercedes-Benz 300D Turbo 4MATIC was an all-wheel drive diesel powered variant of the W124 Sedan. Introduced for the 1987 model year, the 300 D Turbo 4MATIC was powered by Mercedes' OM603.960 engine. This 3.0L turbocharged diesel inline six powerplant initially generated 143hp and 197 lb ft of torque, but an update for the 1989 model year saw power increase to 147hp and 201 lb ft of torque. Power from the engine was sent to all four wheels through a 4 speed automatic transmission. In late 1993, Mercedes changed their naming system, resulting in the 300D Turbo becoming known as the E300 Turbodiesel. Production of the W124 Mercedes-Benz 300D Turbo 4MATIC lasted until 1993.
