The Mercedes-Benz C280 was a variant of the W202 C-Class that was introduced for the 1994 model year. The C 280 was originally available as a four door sedan, but in 1996, a station wagon entered production, although it was never sold in North America. Initially, the C 280 was powered by Mercedes' 2.8L M104 inline six (109hp) engine, but from the 1998 model year, the C 280 featured the 2.8L M112 V6 (194hp) engine. Both engines were available with manual and automatic transmission options. Production of the W202 C280 ended in 2000, but the model series would continue production in the next generation C-Class as the W203 Mercedes-Benz C280.
