The Mercedes-Benz C230 Kompressor was a variant of the W202 C-Class that debuted for the 1996 model year. The C 230 Kompressor was built in both sedan and station wagon body styles, although only the sedan was available in North America. These rear wheel drive cars featured the same M111 E23 engine as in the standard Mercedes-Benz C 230, but with the notable addition of a supercharger. This 2.3L supercharged inline four engine generated 190hp, which was sent to the rear wheels via 5 speed manual and automatic transmission options. Production of the W202 C230 Kompressor lasted until 2000, but the model series would continue life in the next generation C-Class as the W203 Mercedes-Benz C230 Kompressor.
