The Mazda MX-5 Miata STO - NA was a variant of the Mazda MX-5. The vehicle was known in the U.S. as the Miata. The "NA" refers to Mazda's internal nickname, denoting the first-generation Miata. Only offered in 1997, the STO variant or Special Touring Option was only presented in the color Twilight Blue Mica. The STO model was essentially a trim package, including unique exterior paint color, custom wheels, NARDI leather shifter, and custom floor mats. It offered the same drivetrain package, an inline four-cylinder, front-mounted engine sending power to the rear wheels. Mazda gave the STO edition a manual five-speed transmission. Only 1500 STO edition cars were made. The Miata NA was succeeded by the generation NB in 1998.
