Replacing the Bristol 408 in 1966 was the 409 luxury sports coupe; it changed very little aesthetically from its predecessor. However, the suspension of the car was updated. Still carrying the Chrysler V8, Bristol fitted the 409 with softer springs for a better riding car. The 409 was also given an alternator, an upgrade from the generator. Bristol's low production was still a hallmark; the 409 was limited to 74 examples. After production stopped in 1967, the car was replaced by the 410.
