The Bristol Aeroplane Company, as it was known in 1910, was founded in Great Britain. The company didn’t start producing cars until 1945 and evolved into Bristol Cars Limited in 1960 after a split with the airplane side of the company. Former racer Tony Crook became part owner this same year and ushered in the use of Chrysler V8s and bodies by coachbuilder Zagato. By 1997 Crook sold 50% of Bristol, and the company struggled until it went insolvent in 2011. That same year Kamkorp Engineering bought the marque with several modern concepts announced, but the launch fell short. In 2020 it was announced that the company was in liquidation.
