The Austin A40 was a family of cars first introduced in 1947. The A40 designation was used across a wide range of cars as Austin would label their cars with the letter A, then the cars approximate horsepower. Over the course of production, Austin used the A40 name across various body styles and mechanical evolutions. In addition to the A40 label, Austin used names of English counties to differentiate their models. The most well known variants were the A40 Devon, A40 Sports, and the A40 Somerset. After 20 years of production, Austin discontinued the A40 in 1967.
