When Audi introduced their R8 model for the 2007 model year, the first variant to debut was the V8 coupe. Part of the Type 42 R8, the V8 coupe featured a mid-mounted 4.2L V8 that generated 414hp and 317 lb ft of torque (increased for 2011 to 424hp). This engine was available with manual or automatic transmission options, all of which sent drive to all four wheels. Production of the Type 42 Audi R8 V8 Coupe lasted until 2015 when Audi introduced the next generation Type 4S R8.
