For the 2010 model year, Audi introduced a new V10-powered variant of the Type 42 R8. The R8 V10 Coupe featured a 5.2L V10 engine that was derived from the engine in the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 and had an output of 518hp and 391 lb ft of torque. Power from this engine was sent to all four wheels via Audi's Quattro all wheel drive system. Both manual and automatic transmission options were available, with the automatic option consisting of a 6 speed unit until 2012, and after that, a 7 speed was offered. Audi continued to produce the Type 42 R8 V10 Coupe until 2015, when they introduced the next generation Type 4S R8.
