2022 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Custom – 6.2L/797 HP V-8, Custom Hand-Built 1971 ‘Cuda Carbon Fiber Body
The story: In 2001, DaimlerChrysler, who owned Chrysler from 1998 to 2007, shut down the same Plymouth division that gave us the 'Cuda, Road Runner and GTX. As a result, Plymouth never had the chance to contribute of the Mopar-muscle resurgence. Oh, what might have been!
The dream has come true with this 2022 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye. It’s modified with a custom carbon-fiber body in the style of the classic 'Cuda. Hand-built with pre-preg carbon fiber body panels cured in an autoclave and paired with the iconic 'Cuda grille. That body was then painted in four-stage candy translucent purple paint and equipped with trim hinges and grille components that were CNC machined from billet 6061 aluminum.
The Redeye version of the Challenger Hellcat featured a 797 hp version of the 6.2L Supercharged Hellcat V-8, along with several other features inherited from the limited-edition Dodge Demon such as the SRT Power Chiller, a high-strength steel prop shaft and 41-spline half-shafts. According to Dodge, the Redeye is capable of a 3.4-second 0-60 MPH sprint and 10.8-second quarter-mile run, making it one of the quickest factory muscle cars ever built. Here, that 6.2L V-8 is backed by a TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission.
So, with a little help from a Challenger, the 'Cuda lives again! This car was showcased in the Hotchkiss booth at the 2022 SEMA Show.
