The Super Snake was a special package offered on the standard S-197 II GT500 that substantially increased power and dynamic capabilities. Depending on the configuration, the 5.4L supercharged V8 engine had an output ranging from 660hp to 800hp, with power being sent to the rear wheels via a 6 speed manual transmission.
