About the model

Built from 2003 to 2006, the Chevrolet SSR (Super Sport Roadster) was a retro-style truck based on the Chevy trucks from the late 1940s and early 1950s and conceived by the German design firm Karmann. Although it appears like a retro truck, the SSR functions more like the Chevrolet El Camino. The throwback design featured a very modern retractable hard top. Under the hood, Chevy placed a Vortec V8 for 2003 and 2004 and an LS2 V8 in 2005 and 2006. By 2006, a six-speed manual or automatic transmission was both available and placed all power to the rear wheels. Although they were only built for a few years, it is estimated that about 24,150 examples exist.
