This 2001 Ford Mustang Saleen S-281 (#01-0625) was purchased in Pennsylvania and is registered in the Saleen registry as shipped on 5/20/2001 to the previous owner. This S-281 is powered by a naturally aspirated 4.6L V8 engine driving the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission and has just 16,162 miles on the odometer. It's painted in its original Mineral Grey Clearcoat Metallic and is distinguished from other fourth-generation Mustang GTs by its Saleen front and rear fascias, side skirts, louvered side scoops, and rear wing that provide active air management. Inside, the black leather interior is complemented by unique Saleen styling including white-faced gauges, performance pedals, Saleen graphics, and Steve Saleen's signature on the dashboard (complete with a photo of him signing it). Additional performance features include enhancements to the engine, Saleen mufflers and performance exhaust system, and Racecraft suspension and performance tires. This well-documented example is complete with a clean Carfax report and remains located in Pennsylvania.
This Saleen-built Mustang has been inspected and photographed by a third party to document the condition of the vehicle. It presents well inside and out as would be expected of a vehicle with just over 16,000 miles on it. A minor paint chip and light scratch on the bumper are evidence of careful use over the last 23 years. Inside, the leather and carpets retain their rich color, and minor wear to the clutch pedal can be found. A test drive confirmed that, mechanically, all features of this vehicle operate as they were originally intended. The sale includes two sets of keys, the original documentation (including the window sticker), the Saleen car cover, and the original set of wheels and tires.
This Mustang is being sold through a CLASSIC.COM Pro and is located in Masontown, PA.

About the model
In 1999, customers could order their SN-99 or second version of the fourth generation of Mustang GT from tuner Saleen. Saleen offered two basic versions that both had variations. The base version, or S-281, came fixed with the standard Mustang 4.6L V8 displacing 320hp all the way up to 550hp, depending on the variant. Variants included the S-281SC (Supercharged), E, and SA 20. Both automatic and manual transmissions were available. The S-351 is a supercharged 5.8L V8 pushing 500hp to the rear wheels. The S-351 also saw minimal production; only 20 cars were built in 1999 alone. In 2005 the 5th generation of Saleen Mustang S-281 replaced the SN-99.
