This 1997 Ford Expedition XLT 4X4 was sold new by Sawtooth Ford in Sun Valley, Idaho, where it remained garaged and kept at a vacation home by two owners until my acquisition in 2024. I oversaw the previous owner's collector car collection (who possessed the vehicle since 2003), and while the car collection I helped him build was impressive, I always mentioned, "Give me first right as a refusal on the Expedition should you decide to move on from ownership." The previous owner acquired the truck via the purchase of a Sun Valley, Idaho vacation home in 2003, which included the truck in the home's purchase. This Expedition has slightly over 100k miles and is powered by a 5.4-liter Triton V8 that drives the rear or all four wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission, two-speed transfer case, and a Control-Trac four-wheel-drive system. The truck is finished in its original Oxford White Clearcoat paint over Medium Prairie Tan leather upholstery. Features include 16" cast aluminum wheels, anti-lock disc brakes, fog lamps, illuminated running boards, Class III Trailer Towing Group/hitch, factory roof rails and tie-down hooks, a rear liftgate with a flip-up glass window and wiper, front captain's chairs, a second-row bench, rear-cabin climate controls, premium audio with Pioneer stereo control, cruise control, and air conditioning. This Expedition is now offered by myself as the titled owner, the owner's manual, workshop manuals, a binder full of registration and service records, a clean Carfax report, Marti Auto Works option document, and a clean Idaho title.
The truck is finished in Oxford White Clearcoat and features upgraded light bulbs, additional interior and exterior replacement LED light bulbs, illuminated LED running boards, XR Xpel ceramic front window tint, original Ford stamped windshield with a minor chip, a rear liftgate with a flip-up glass window and wiper, power-adjustable side mirrors, a receiver hitch, Pioneer stereo head unit with CarPlay/Android capability, and full WeatherTech floor mats. The front driver's side running board LED light is not functioning and hasn't been under my ownership. Light damage to the rear passenger side quarter panel and plastic bumper cover is present due to the previous owner backing out of a garage. The rear liftgate glass was scratched via the rear windshield wiper prior to my ownership.
The original 16″ five-spoke cast aluminum wheels are mounted with 245/75R Open Country AT II All-terrain tires installed at 83,126 miles. Braking is handled by four-wheel anti-lock discs that have recently been inspected. The vehicle was mechanically inspected on 9/14/24 by Still TerHar Ford in Broomfield, Colorado. An additional drivetrain and running gear inspection was performed on 9/17/24 by Les Schwab Tire Center in Lakewood, Colorado, and Excel shocks were replaced. A binder of service records dating back to 2004 is available for viewing, and the binder of documents is included in the sale.
A Pioneer touchscreen stereo system is equipped, and interior amenities also include rear-cabin climate controls, factory premium speakers, cruise control, power windows and locks, and air conditioning. The lower portion of the front driver's seat was replaced with factory-style upholstery from the Seat Cover Company, which Still TerHar Ford installed. A full detail, including the engine compartment and undercarriage, was performed on 8/09/24. I have not driven the vehicle when the streets are wet. I use my 2019 Ford Raptor as a daily driver instead.
The check engine light has been known to come periodically due to the fuel filler cap, and the door ajar light may stay on during cold temperatures via the driver's side door. The air conditioning system was recharged in 2024 and blows cold. The six-digit odometer shows 101,xxxk miles, approximately 3,000 of which were added under my current ownership. This has been my Sunday driver.
The 5.4-liter Triton V8 was factory-rated at 230 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque. The oil and filters were replaced when I acquired it in addition to a full inspection by a Ford dealership.
All four shocks and stabilizer bar control links were replaced in mid-to-late 2024. Comprehensive service records are included in a binder.
The Marti Auto Works report lists that the vehicle came equipped with a 6-Disc CD changer in the center console which is present along with factory options, colors. The report lists a front license plate bracket, a factory AM/FM radio with cassette, and various halogen light bulbs are included with the sale.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage with history in Sun Valley, Idaho, until I acquired it in August of 2024, where the vehicle lived between my primary residence in Boise, Idaho, and my second residence in Golden, Colorado. The vehicle is currently registered in Idaho and the license plates, rear porsche license plate frame and USB 2 to USB 3 cable to stereo will not be included in the sale.
