Designed by Pininfarina, this 1987 Ferrari 328 GTS (Gran Turismo Spider) is an excellent low-mileage example showing only 47,680 miles. Powered by a 3.2L DOHC V8 and driving the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission, it is painted in classic Ferrari red and well cared for inside and out. Paint thickness readings are available in the photos. The current owner has plenty of service records to document the meticulous care of the vehicle, beginning with his ownership in 2011 at around 40,000 miles. Service included the replacement of the timing belt, tensioner bearings, water pump, cam seals, and AC. In addition, the valves were adjusted, and about 6,000 miles later, another engine out service was performed to adjust the shifter and replace the stud seals. Fuel injectors were also replaced at 47,000 miles. The owner also reports the vehicle to be in great mechanical condition, with the fluids being changed regularly, and the car remains unmodified. Since 2011, GTO Engineering and the Auto Gallery in California have been providing maintenance for the car. The 328 GTS is being marketed by a CLASSIC.COM Pro on behalf of its current owner and is located in Los Angeles, California.
This Ferrari has spent the majority of its life in a dry climate and remains rust-free. The low mileage shows on the exterior and interior of the car, with almost no cosmetic flaws in the paint. A third-party vehicle inspection was conducted, and the car was graded at 4.8 out of 5 for exterior excellence. A clean Carfax report shows no accidents. The 16-inch stock rims are in good condition, and the engine compartment shows an equal posture. The rear body seam shows no sign of damage, and the Targa top works appropriately and reflects the same overall condition of the car. The interior is well cared for with its beige leather seats and contrasting black steering wheel and dash. The driver's seat shows some slight wear, but both seats are fully operational. The radio, AC, and interior lights are all functioning as expected. The inspection report says the interior is a 5 out of 5 for condition. This GTS was recently detailed by Chuck Mason in Los Angeles.
About the Model
The 1985 to 1989 Ferrari 328 GTS was built as a successor to the Ferrari 308. Its 3.2L DOHC V8 sits transversely, just behind the rear seats, and features four valves per cylinder. A five-speed manual gate-shifted transmission transfers power to the rear wheels. The frame was made of tubular steel and fitted with coilover springs front and rear. The 328 GTS was built as a Targa-top, but the car was also available in hard top or GTB. Overall, the 328 was an improvement over the 308, and Ferrari made plenty of them. In total 6,068 units were produced.
