Details
This 1982 Porsche 928 is outfitted with an automatic transaxle and a 4.5L V8 engine with electronic fuel injection. The rear-wheel drive 928 is a great grand tourer and looks excellent in burgundy paint with disc brakes on all four wheels. The vehicle inspector reports that the car runs and shifts well and has plenty of power. Underneath the vehicle, there does not appear to be any fluid leakage. The odometer currently reads 68,684 miles, but it should be noted that the odometer and speedometer are inoperable, and according to Carfax, the last reported mileage was in 2012, with 68,101 miles. Therefore, the total mileage is unknown. There are also no accidents noted in the Carfax report. Signs of wear on both the interior and exterior are consistent with its age, such as cracks in the paint and on the dash, which are visible in the photos. Further examination reveals that the new owner will need to replace the struts and shocks as well as have the brake rotors resurfaced. The A/C and heater are reported to be in good working order, and the 928 features an aftermarket CD player as well as inviting beige leather seats to host their new owner comfortably.
About the Model
Originally intended to replace the Porsche 911, the V8 928 was built to have a broader functional appeal to Porsches customer base. Porsche stepped forward with the 928, giving it a 50/50 weight distribution for improved handling and a five-speed manual or automatic transaxle. Four-wheel disc brakes and a comfortable interior completed the grand touring mission from the German manufacturer. Although it never replaced the 911, this 2+2 Grand Tourer has found its place among Porsche enthusiasts.
