This is my 1978 Lincoln Mark V for sale. I bought the car in 2015 to fulfill my lifelong desire to own one a true American Classic. All the years of automotive innovations cannot duplicate the feeling of pure luxury that this car delivers. The drive quality in this car is awesome! All the bumps and flaws in the road are absorbed by the comfortable suspension allowing you to float along on a cloud while you listen to your favorite music on the quadraphonic 8 track audio system. The power steering allows you to direct this large car with the flick of a finger while the cruise control maintains a constant speed.
The car had been garaged since 2001 but started up right away, and I was able to drive from Leadville, Colorado to Colorado Springs, Colorado a distance of 130 miles. 1978 was the last year the 460 (7.5 liters) engine was offered. The engine is mated to a silky smooth transmission and drives the power accessories without hesitation. This giant V8 makes enough torque to provide the sensation of limitless acceleration.
This car is an unmolested survivor. I have been cautious not to make any period incorrect changes other than items such as upgrading the air conditioning to R34 and LED headlights. My goal was to maintain originality as it can only be original once! To that end, there are some paint blemishes and minor cracks on the dash and steering wheel. I have shown it at many of the local Lincoln Club events where it draws many admirers.
Over the last couple of years, I have spent approximately $15,000 on getting this car to this condition and can provide many receipts. The car has a new battery, tires, all new belts, new brakes, new brake lines, u-joint, hose clamps, fuel line. The air conditioning has been converted to R34A and blows cold. Please see the attached list for a complete list of work performed.
As a result of all of the above work, the car is very reliable. On days with good weather, it serves as my daily driver as well as shuttling the kids to various events. I often drive it to Denver (a 150-mile round trip) for Lincoln Club events without any issues.
The car is available for sale in Colorado Springs, CO.
