About this 1978 Fiat 124 Spider

VIN: 124CS10132453

Clean Texas title in the seller’s name.

1978 Fiat 124 Spider finished in black over a red interior and is powered by a 1.8-liter DOHC inline-four paired with a five-speed manual gearbox.

Dynamat insulation, new brakes, suspension components, and exhaust. Equipment includes a black convertible soft top, LED head and tail lights, 15″ Vick Autosports wheels, disc brakes, a Luisi steering wheel, a short shifter, a Pioneer infotainment system, and a backup camera.

Mechanical modifications include the addition of a Weber carburetor, aluminum radiator, replacement water pump, electric fuel pump and thermostat. Fuel regulator. New High pressure Head gasket. Valve Shims, seals and polishing.

The exterior was refinished in black during prior ownership after bodywork was performed to address body damage and dents. Same black color indicated by the VIN and Chassis number.

Replaced items include the black convertible soft top, chrome bumpers, weatherstripping, emblems, and chrome trim. LED headlights with integrated turn signals have been added, along with LED fog and taillights, a double-bubble hood 1979, and front air dam, a driver-side mirror, a black powder-coated grille, and steel side skirts.

15″ painted and polished Vick Autosports wheels are fitted with Nitto tires at each corner.

Lowering springs have been added front and rear along with shocks, upper and lower trailing arms and upper and lower control arms, sway bar bushings, tie rods, Panhard bar, and ball joints were also replaced. Modified fender liners have been added to accommodate the lowered suspension and wider tires. Because the car is lowered sometimes it rubs a little on Bumps.

The cabin features adjustable front Procar bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in red with three-point seatbelts for the front occupants. Dynamat insulation was also fitted throughout the interior including behind the replaced black door panels and matching carpets.
Interior amenities include a short shifter, a custom dashboard, a dash mat, as well as a replacement rearview mirror, parking brake lever, convertible top straps, and pedals.
Sheet metal was added to the floorboards to address rust damage, there is a veneer in place over the dash and center console.

The Pioneer infotainment provides output for the backup camera and is linked to a sound system including 6.5″ front and rear speakers, 3.25″ speakers mounted in the dash, and an 8″ Kicker subwoofer housed under the passenger-side dashboard. Custom toggle switch panel for Lights and Fuel pump cut off and engine Cooling fan always on, USB charging ports, and a manual antenna.

The three-spoke Luisi steering wheel fronts aftermarket instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer, a 10k-rpm tachometer, and custom glow gauges for oil pressure, temperature, voltage, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 30k miles. Total original mileage is unknown. Engine was rebuilt fully during my ownership along with the transmission. This happened in the initial 6 months. No Leaks and the car has been in numerous 200 mile plus trips.

Equipped also with a 2 barrel Weber carburetor, an aluminum radiator, an oversized electric radiator fan, aluminum pulleys, and a replacement water pump, electronic fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, fuel filter, thermostat, alternator, starter, NGK spark plugs, and stainless steel braided fuel lines. A heat shield was applied to the underside of the hood, gas struts were installed, and a replacement fuel tank was fitted. .

Things to note.
Prior owner capped the Heater heat exchanger in order to accommodate the two speakers in that location. Not an issue for me. I like the look. Next owner can decide. No Heater.

Rust spots under the car were repaired. See the pictures. New owner might want to make everything original and take it all apart.

Rear Brake compensator valve was removed for better braking. Will be included in the purchase. 3 way T is in place in case the new owner wants to put it back
In.

I do not like the Gas shocks that much, the car was originally designed with a more compliant Hydraulic suspension. Adding the Gas shocks adds more response but makes the ride a little more harsh for an older guy like me.

Battery should be disconnected if the car will not be used over the week. There are things in the card using charge to keep memory, like the Radio and Gages and can drain the battery. Can opt to keep a tender on it if not in use. That is what I do.

The Air fuel ratio and jetting is on point. And there is an AFR gauge in case the new owner wants to perform further mods.

Engine is not really modified except for the Carb, headers and exhaust. Along with an Electronic ignition From the 79.

I leave the Top Down when in the garage to avoid any type of Fuel Vapors or anything else in the cockpit. But not an issue to store with it all closed. Use some Humidity removal compound if it will stored for a long period of time.
