We are pleased to offer on behalf of one of our clients this nice, original 1970 Porsche 911S Coupe.
For many years, 2shores has been offering selected, finest grade examples of air-cooled Porsches. This Porsche 911S Coupe is one of those examples!
For the model year 1970 the engines of all 911s were increased to 2,2l. Power outputs were uprated to 125 PS in the 911T, 155 PS in the 911E, and 180 PS in the 911S.
For many enthusiasts, the mechanically fuel injected 2.2l S engine is the holy grail. While typically being a little sluggish at low rpms, this engine will put a smile on your face every time you rev it up. The sound that comes from this power plant on the way to redline at 7200rpm is simply glorious. And the car gathers speed at an alarming rate asking for more and more. It is so much fun having a nicely tuned 2.2S 911.
Our car on offer can best be described as a very original and solid driver 911S. The car was delivered new to Connecticut and its second owner was John Cooke, a Yale Business School graduate and Steam engine position crew member on the US Olympic Team that took gold in 1956 at the Olympics in Melbourne AU. John kept the car for decades and after his passing in 2005, the family kept it in storage for 14 years, before the current owner bought it in 2019. A period Yale sticker is still on the rear window of the car.
Finished in its factory original and highly sought after tangerine (6809) exterior over black interior, this car is 100% numbers matching per Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.
The speedometer shows at 72,566 mls and this is believed to be the original mileage supported by available documents.
The body is very nice and straight with no indication of any accident damage. The paint is old (repaint to original specs decades ago) but still quite presentable. It has recently been detailed and ceramic coated. It will show its share of imperfections, some scratches and chips, but it is decades old and still pretty.
The interior is black leatherette and in good condition. No major rips or tears and a nice dashboard. The vinyl lining on the driver seat is partially cracked, but the seat itself is good. Great headliner with less discoloration than usually found on this vintage. New coco mats.
All instruments and electricals work.
The engine is not detailed and is said to use/leak some oil. However, the car runs extremely well, has great oil pressure and the mechanical fuel injection is set up very nicely. The car starts, runs and revs without any hesitation. It is a joy to drive! An aftermarket AC unit was installed likely by the selling dealer but it is no longer working.
Solid floors and great panel fit. Bright work and original Fuchs rims show patina, but no damage and fit the overall authentic look of this 54 year old 911 perfectly.
The vehicle comes with years of documentation, a Certificate of Authenticity, original window sticker, service manual, factory tool kit, date coded spare and jack.
This is a very honest 911S Coupe in one of the best color combinations available. Timeless beauty combined with outstanding performance. The ‘70 Porsche 911S was among the fastest road cars of the time.
This is a turnkey driver and the car should be enjoyed as such. Take it out and drive it, drive it, drive it!
Please study all the photos closely to evaluate the outstanding condition of this car!
