International Harvester Scout 800A
1970 vin 782827G396341
304 cu in V - 8 engine T-45 transmission , 145 tranfer , 4 speed transmission, new tires (4) 2024
I bought this Scout from my dad on June 2002, It was being retired from our ranch. My dad bought this Scout new in 1970 from a dealer in Tucson, Arizona (see owners service policy paper), it was used mostly on the ranch where we live. We have a small construction Co.
I have put a lot of time making this Scout into good running condition
At the time I started working on this Scout, the mileage was 73,000 miles. The engine was completely rebuilt with .020 over pistons, rings , new lifters, bearing etc.(see Eastside Engine receipt dtd 22 April 2004) a new clutch installed. Installed a metal liner on the front floor boards, a metal liner on the deck of the back because of the rust. The frame has surface rust. As can be seen in the pictures.
I installed all new bearings in the transmission, replace the wheel bearings front and back axles.(March 2005)
2003: I painted the Scout with a rough type of paint, I believe the paint was called Zolatone. The paint is tough enough to withstand scratches in brush
2018: I installed a new power brake kit
The top has all the windows intact, the back door is not froze up
2021: a friend had a Ford carb for a 302 cu in engine, He installed it and now the Scout runs as good as it ever did, the old international scout carb was wore out Had a lot of air leaks.
I have been driving the Scout around Arizona for the last 23 years and have enjoyed driving it,
and still do enjoy driving the old Scout.
The Scout now has 87,222 miles on the odometer.
I do not add oil between oil changes, same thing with the transmission and transfer case.
Original front seat frame and foam. I recovered the seats around 2010, with black Naugahyde, back seat is made from a chevy celebrity back seat frame with 4 inches of foam material.
Also have a extra set of axles front and rear with springs, tie rod, and drive lines, international locking hubs brake drums for a Scout
