"Time Capsuleā€ 1968 Pontiac GTO, all mechanically original. Documented owner history and documented original mileage. For the classic car purist, truly a rare GTO that can easily be taken to the next level of restoration or simply enjoyed as a much higher than average condition car. It runs cool, no overheating issues. No rust, pristine floorboards (photographic evidence), no known crash or damage history. All original sheet metal. Magnet used along lower portion of the rear fenders indicates some minimal body filler behind each of the rear wheels, however there is no visual evidence of any repair work having been done. Pontiac Historical Service Documentation is included. Car spent life in Colorado and Arizona before coming to Wisconsin in 2019 and of course, never exposed to harsh winter conditions.

1968 Pontiac GTO with numbers matching 400 WT engine and numbers matching Muncie 4 speed manual transmission linked to the Safe-T-Track rear axle with 3.55 gears.

All previous owners are documented since car was sold new from Bill Reno Pontiac in Boulder, Colorado on 8-7-68 with 0 miles to original owner.

Second owner title is issued on July 22 1976 unknown mileage

Transfer from second owner to third owner title was issued on December 6, 1996 at 47,258 miles

Transfer from third owner to fourth owner title issued on August 12, 2004 at 62556 miles

Fourth owner to current owners with title issued on May 10, 2019 at 63488 miles

Engine stamped with numbers 78R190976 matching vehicle VIN and identifying Arlington TX as assembly plant which matches original Moroney sticker

Engine casting code is 9790071, correct for 1968-1969 Pontiac 400

Distributor has code 111449 with date code of 8E16 signifying May 16, 1968

Rochester Quadrajet carb with correct date code of 7028263VD decoded to verify manufacture date 1968, 4 bbl Q-jet, made for Pontiac with manual transmission

Muncie transmission has date code of P8E24 signifying May 24, 1968 manufacturing date as well as matching VIN number stamped.

Per invoice, a and repaint was done in July 1997 by Carriage Shop LTD in Boulder Colorado to current Pontiac color Cameo Ivory.

Replacement carpet June 2022, floor noted during carpet replacement to be in pristine condition including original paint oversparay, photographs taken

New taillight lenses

New Hideaway Headlight door actuators

All lights, turn signals, brake lights, etc working

Reconditioned 1968 GTO radio from Mike Hayden Antique Radio which allows for satellite reception. Original radio is also included in the sale.

Car has Keystone Mags now, but 5 original wheels are included in sale, note that original wheels do need refurbishing.

Original radiator re-cored and refurbished in 2023 and new heater core was installed at the same time

Four new tires BF Goodrich tires and a new spare tire were installed in August, 2024.

Upper control arm bushings and sway bar bushings replaced in August, 2024.

Both front brake calipers replaced in November, 2024

GTO was driven on an August, 2024 trouble-free long distance trip, 1571 round trip miles from Wisconsin to Deadwood SD for Kool Deadwood Nites car show event, with no mechanical issues or overheating, and averaged 15.06 mpg. Temperatures across the Badlands near 100 degrees during the trip.
