At MotorCarTrader we take a different approach to buying and selling our classic Jaguar E-types. As opposed to pushing a large volume through to quickly sell with extensive detailing prep and professional photography, we focus on going through each car mechanically to make them excellent and reliable driving cars. We have bought, sold, consulted and restored over 250 Jaguar E-types, so know them very well, how they are supposed to drive and what models need sensible upgrades to make them great drivers. Our cars are about value and the heavy work is already completed. In addition, we are fully transparent with imperfections or additional needs our cars may have.
We are excited to offer another beautiful Jaguar E-type. This 1966 Jaguar E-type Series 1 Fixed Head Coupe was built on November 4th of 1965 and the date of dispatch was November 22 of 1965. It is in the original color combination as per the Jaguar Heritage Certificate. It has been refinished in its original exterior color of Cream while still wearing its original Black leather seats. The car was originally sold by Frank Millard Sports Cars, Inc. of Encino, California to Virginia and Dr. James Tilden of Los Angeles, CA. This car is very rare as it was one of the first Jaguar E-types equipped with the dealer installed Cool Aire console air conditioning system and is fully functional and blows cold air today.
The Jaguar E-type presented here is an original California car, but moved around a bit until it found its long term home in Phoenix Arizona in 1973. We purchased this car in 2023 from the owner whose ownership spanned the last 50 years. The car only had 42,645 original miles when we purchased the car. It now has 42,742 miles and counting, as we drive our cars. The previous owner took meticulous car of the car over the years and climate was conducive to this type of car. This Jaguar was used sparingly over the past few years so we had to go through the car and invested close to $20,000 into the car to make it an excellent higher end driver to be enjoyed. As a result this car runs, drives, shifts and stops excellent. Furthermore, it shows extremely well as the car is in stunning overall condition. As mentioned earlier the car was very well maintained, but needed attention to bring it back to its former driving glory. Most of the work we had completed was as follows:
Removed head to replace leaking head gasket.
Replaced head studs.
Electric cooling fan added and wired to ignition for better cooling.
Brake switch replaced.
Front calipers replaced.
Brake lines replaced.
Outer tie rods replaced.

Overall this car is wonderful high end driver with nice history, low mileage and rare Air Conditioning for an earlier Jaguar E-type Series 1 4.2 Fixed Head Coupe. In addition, this E-type comes with the original owners manual, original pouch, warranty card with original owners name and original dealership’s name, Jaguar periodic maintenance voucher stamped up to 11,863 miles, original Jaguar maintenance chart, Heritage Certificate and service records. It is wonderful car that is an absolute blast to drive and enjoy, and of course is a Series 1 Fixed Coupe which is arguably one of the best looking cars of all time.
