This custom 1966 Chevrolet Impala SS convertible received completely new mechanicals in 2019-2020 that provide significant upgrades in a classically styled package and make it truly unique. It's refinished in a custom blue color with a white top and a new white vinyl interior. Modifications include a new 6.2L Supercharged LT-4 V8 Crate engine that sends 650hp to the rear wheels through a Supermatic 4L-75 four-speed automatic transmission. Power is transferred through Moser axles and housing matched with a Strange Engineering third member differential with 3:73 gears. Stopping power is delivered through four-wheel Wilwood disc brakes behind 18-inch 5-spoke chrome American Racing wheels and staggered-width tires. The electrical system has been upgraded to include GM Performance fuse boxes and a new wiring harness to support a Dakota Digital dashboard showing just over 5,000 miles, though total mileage is unknown. A custom Memphis audio system with an amplifier and trunk-mounted subwoofers is paired with a JVC XM/Bluetooth/CD head unit. All suspension components have been upgraded to a Ridetech Air Suspension System controlled through a cabin-mounted remote. The seller acquired the vehicle in 2019 in Maine and began the restomod process that lasted through 2020. The prior owner held the car for five years and earlier history is unknown. It has a clean title and wears a reissued Chevrolet Biscayne VIN tag that was fitted before the seller's acquisition and restoration. It remains located in Maine.
A third-party inspection and detailed photos document the clean condition of this custom-built Impala. The blue paint is clean but shows some evidence of cracking above the trunk hinges and minor overspray from the restoration process. The inspection notes that the rockers show signs of repair and the quarter panels appear to have been replaced as part of the restoration which may have resulted in the general misalignment of body panels. Additional items noted for further diagnosis are inoperable windshield wipers/washers, an inoperable heater and the exterior passenger door handle that doesn't work. The battery should be tested to confirm that it remains able to hold a charge after sitting. A road test was performed and demonstrated smooth operation of the new engine, transmission, brakes and suspension. The power convertible top is in good condition. Included with the sale is a car cover.
