About this 1966 Austin-Healey 3000

VIN: HBJ8L38727

This beauty was purchased by the current owner approximately 15 years ago. He believes he may be the third owner but isn't 100% sure on that.

Roughly 9 years ago, he pulled her apart and had a mild restoration done. She was painted, seats and interior upholstery were redone, bumpers re-chromed, new wheels and tires, many new suspension pieces, bushings, new top, etc.

The tires are Nexen Radials in 165/80R15 size.

There were a bunch of trim pieces that were not touched as they were fine back then.

Unfortunately, even then, the owner was not able to comfortably fit in her and the car was relegated to being shuttled from one garage/property to another by a friend and that is the limit of the driving the car has seen over the last 9 years, maybe a 100-150 miles a year. She was started regularly. During that time frame some attrition of those trim pieces has occurred and some minor pitting can be seen on some interior bits and the right wing window latch became stripped and is in the glove box. Some of the vinyl upholstery on the console has started to peel and some minor cracks have occurred on the dash's wood veneer.

The last bit of bad news is the paint next to the gas filler has lifted in a couple of spots and the engine is not the original engine according to the British Heritage Cert.

What's left is all good to great news.

She is absolutely stunning in her original color of Colorado Red and the original issue black leather interior was maintained. Other than the aforementioned issue near the gas filer, the paint is in awesome condition, with maybe only one other small chip in the paint. The chrome gleams and the wire wheels sparkle in the sunlight.

The seats are firm and comfortable.

The options listed on the Heritage Cert are: Wire wheels, Overdrive, adjustable steering column, heater, laminated windscreen, road speed tires, black hood (top), and leather upholstery.

What made these the big Healey's was the 2.9L inline 6 that pushed out 150 HP and 170 lb ft of torque and when mated to the 4 speed, overdrive transmission, these were very capable sports cars. Another interesting feature is the dual exhaust that runs all the way out the back and a very distinct rumble and sound. This one, with only 39,000 miles, turns right over and settles into a very solid, smooth idle and accelerates wonderfully up through the gears and if you choose to take her out on a major state road, with a tap of the OD switch, keeps her easily at comfortable secondary roads speeds of 65-70MPH. That means she is capable of driving up on the highway in terms of average speed, however, my personal opinion is to stay away from highway driving in these or any older, small sports car.

The front disc brakes and rear drums are firm and stop her easily from 50+ mph.

The new bushings and shocks mean a very smooth ride with little in the way of bounces, jounces and jiggly noises.

The owner said he's going to address some of the small issues, such as the loose vinyl on the console.

This is really a gorgeous car that will easily take a trophy or ribbon at most local or even regional British car shows. A solid #2 car. Turn key as she sits and ready to go.

Any questions, for several hundred additional photos and video, to schedule a time to see her or to make an offer, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Thank you for the interest
