About this 1965 Ford Mustang

VIN: 5F09C320989

Details

This 1965 Ford Mustang GT currently resides in Huntsville, Texas, and enjoys a pampered life being garage kept and occasionally driven to local car shows. The seller claims the car has been fully restored, but it is an older restoration. Powered by a 289 cubic-inch V8 that has reportedly been stroked to 302 cubic inches, this stout little cruiser has a nice purr to it and extra torque thanks to its larger displacement. The 302 cubic inch 5.0 liter V8 is modified with a Mallory electronic distributor and ignition box, aftermarket plug wires, and a set of glass pack mufflers. A C-4 automatic transmission handles putting the fastbacks power to the ground with ease. This GT steers and stops easily too, thanks to a recently installed power steering, and power front disc brakes. The car is missing floor mats, and a recent inspection report reveals the exterior condition of the vehicle to be a 3.7 out of 5, and the interior is rated at 3.6 out of 5. A video of the engine running is available in the report.

About the Model

Equipped with the GT package and a V8 or configured as an inline 6 with an automatic transmission, the Ford Mustang was the first car to introduce many Americans to factory customization and options. From 1965 to 1966, Ford would sell over 1.2 million Mustangs thanks to a well-thought-out marketing opportunity and Lee Iacoccas vision for a young persons car. Lee Iacocca and the Fairlane Committee's meticulously laid plan presented the right car for the right generation at the right time. On April 17th, 1964, the baby boomer generation got their first exposure to Fords new Mustang at the New York World's Fair. The Mustang was an instant success and sold 22,000 units on its first on-sale weekend. Since 1965, the Mustang has learned to adapt along with each successive generation to meet their needs and has still managed not to lose what makes it a Mustang in the process.
