About this 1956 Studebaker Golden Hawk

VIN: 6800277

Details

This 1956 Studebaker Golden Hawk is being sold through CLASSIC.COM Pro. The car is powered by a 352ci V8 engine coupled to an automatic transmission, and output is sent to the rear wheels. The two-door coupe is the beneficiary of a re-paint in a two-tone green and white with a matching two-tone leather interior. This mid-century car features front and rear stabilizer bars, stiffer springs, power steering, power brakes, and windows. In addition, this model came equipped with full instrumentation and a Continental spare tire kit. Although total mileage is unknown, the odometer shows 57,650 miles. This unmodified example has been in the possession of the same owner for the last 15 years and is currently located in Roscoe, Illinois.

As evidenced in the third-party photos provided, the Golden Hawk shows well in its resprayed two-tone paint work. Despite the re-paint, the inspection does reveal some flaws in the paint, such as chips and scratches. Other exterior flaws include scratches in the glass and rust on the underside of the gas tank. The body and glass seals also need to be replaced. The matching interior shows small signs of wear, with cracks in the steering wheel, an inoperable horn, and light wear on the seats. Mechanically, the engine and transmission reportedly operate well. The steering needs to be inspected due to a tendency to wander when driving, and the inspection does report an exhaust leak. The cars generator will also need inspection, as it only works intermittently. The vehicle is reported to be in good overall condition, inside and out.

This car is being marketed by a CLASSIC.COM Pro on behalf of its current owner and is located in Roscoe, IL.

About the model

The Studebaker Golden Hawk was a series of luxury hardtops introduced for the 1956 model year. The Golden Hawk was the top offering for the Hawk Series and stood alone as Studebaker's flagship model. This series of cars were only available in a two-door hardtop body style, and were initially powered by a 5.8L V8 engine that produced 275hp. After the 1956 model year, the engine changed to a supercharged 4.7L V8 unit that also generated 275hp. Production of the Studebaker Golden Hawk lasted until 1958.
