I bought the 1948 Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon in 1971 with my high school friend Brian, for $85.00. After driving it around that summer and performing some bad repairs it was put in storage as we both were off to college.
In 1992 I had it transported to Orlando from New Jersey. I started the restoration in 1999. First I had all the wood replaced by Glenn Redding in Ocala Florida ~ 2/2000. He had previously worked at World in Ocala Florida. After the woodwork was completed we removed all the wood to have metalwork done to the rear of the car. As is the case with a lot of these cars they are so long that at some point they are stored in a garage or shed but part of the car sticks out in the weather and deteriorates. The metal work was done by Jim Heiser's Vintage Autos in McIntosh, Florida ~ 6/2000.
At this point with the car almost all the way disassembled I decided to do a frame up restoration. The work started at KC's Rods and Customs in August 2000. This shop eventually went out of business and the restoration was completed by Prostreet Customs. (10/2003 to 1/2005)
The interior work was done by Hoyt's Auto Upholstery Inc in Sarasota, Florida.
