The first generation of the Toyota Century was introduced in 1967 as Toyota's flagship model and was in production until 1997 with minimal changes along the way. Apart from minor cosmetic changes and engine upgrades, the design remained largely untouched during its 30-year production run. The Century was powered by a 3.0L V8 from 1967 to 1973, a 3.4L V8 from 1973 to 1982, and finally a 4.0L V8 from 1982 to 1997. Power was driven to the rear via a manual to automatic transmission. The 1st generation Century was succeeded by the 2nd generation Century in 1997.
