The Celica ST finds its place just below the GT in the Celica variant line and was offered in both the U.S., Europe, and Japan. Depending on the market and model year, the ST was equipped with a range of inline-four engines including the 1.6L (2T),  the 1.9L (8R), the 2.0L (18R-C) and a 2.2L (20R). The ST received hubcaps instead of styled wheels like the GT and also had a center console as well as battery and oil gauges. By 1973, an automatic transmission was available. In Europe, the Celica 2000 ST was a Liftback version (treated here as a Hatchback) featuring the single cam 2.0L 18R engine. The Celica ST continued to be offered in its second generation beginning in 1978.
