The second generation of Toyota 4Runner was introduced for the 1990 model year. The 2nd Gen 4Runner, also known as the N120/N130 series, was offered in a two or four door SUV body style, although the two door was rare and was only built until 1993. These cars featured a range of gasoline and diesel inline four engines as well as one V6 option. These engines were paired to a 5 speed manual or 4 speed automatic. Although known as the 4Runner in North America, these cars were sold under the name Hilux Surf in the Japanese domestic market. Production of the 2nd Gen Toyota 4Runner lasted until 1995, when it was replaced by the Third Generation Toyota 4Runner.
