The Subaru Impreza WRX was introduced for the 1993 model year. The WRX was a performance variant of the Impreza, and was offered as a sedan, coupe, or hatchback. The WRX was offered with all wheel drive and featured a turbocharged flat four engine, as well as serving as the basis for the high performance WRX STi variant. The first generation Impreza WRX was in production until 2001, and was replaced by the Second Generation Subaru Impreza WRX. First generation WRXs were not available for the U.S market.
