The fourth generation of Studebaker Champion was introduced for the 1953 model year. The fourth generation saw the Champion become a mid-size model, whereas in previous generations, the model had been sold as a full-size car. These cars were offered in sedan, coupe, and station wagon body styles, and were powered by a 2.8L inline six engine that grew to 3.0L in 1955. Production of the fourth generation Champion lasted until 1956, and it was replaced by the Fifth Generation Studebaker Champion.
