Originally created as a prototype for a racing series, the Saab Sonett was a series of open top roadsters that never saw production or racing action. Built in a barn, and retroactively known as the Sonett I, this group of cars saw only six examples created, all fitted with a 748cc two-stroke inline three engine. The Sonett I was built between 1955 and 1957. The Sonett name would be reborn in 1966 for a sporty looking coupe known as the Saab Sonett II.
